Marc Peigné, Président de la Société Mathématique de France annonce que le "PRIX IBNI" est décerné à Koffi Wilfrid HOUEDANOU

Anne Gégout-Petit, présidente de la Société Française de Statistique, Grégoire Allaire, président de la Société de Mathématiques Appliquées et Industrielles, Marc Peigné, président de la Société Mathématique de France ont le plaisir d’annoncer que le prix Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh 2013 est décerné à Monsieur Koffi Wilfrid HOUEDANOU.

Koffi Wilfrid Houedanou est un doctorant, originaire du Bénin, qui effectue sa thèse à l’IMSP (Institut de Mathématiques et Sciences Physiques) au Bénin sous la direction conjointe de Bernardin Ahounou au Bénin et de Serge Nicaise à Valenciennes en France. Sa thèse porte sur les estimations d’erreurs a posteriori pour les problèmes de transmission avec discrétisation isotrope ou anisotrope. Le prix Ibni a été créé en 2009 à la mémoire d’Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh, mathématicien et homme politique tchadien, afin de poursuivre son engagement pour une formation de qualité des jeunes mathématiciens africains. Il est décerné annuellement. Il permet à un étudiant d’un établissement d’Afrique centrale ou d’Afrique de l’Ouest, en mathématiques ou statistique, en master ou en thèse, de faire un séjour scientifique dans un pays autre que le sien. Le récipiendaire est choisi après avis d’un conseil scientifique mis en place par le CIMPA, Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées. Les fonds nécessaires ont fait l’objet d’une souscription.

Koffi Wilfrid HOUEADANOU.

Koffi Wilfrid Houedanou is a Ph D student from Benin working at IMSP (Institut de Mathématiques et Sciences Physiques) in Benin under the joint supervision of Bernardin Ahounou in Benin and Serge Nicaise at Valenciennes in France. The subject of his thesis is a posteriori error analysis for transmission problems with isotropic and anisotropic discretizations. The Prize "Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh" has been created in memory of our colleague Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh, professor and former rector of the University of N'Djamena. Former government minister, he was one of the leading figures of the democratic opposition in Chad. He was instrumental in inter-university agreements linking Chad to France and other African countries. He wanted these agreements to contribute to the quality of teacher education in his country. The Prize is designed to continue his commitment to Mathematics in Africa. The Prize "Ibni Oumar Mahamat Saleh" is awarded annually. It allows a student of an institution of Central Africa or West Africa, in mathematical sciences, at the graduate or post-graduate level, to benefit a scientific training in a country other than his/her own. Applications are evaluated by a scientific committee set up by CIMPA (International Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics). The prize is funded by a subscription of the international mathematical community and benefits from the support of IMU (International Mathematical Union), AMU (African Mathematical Union ) and LMS (London Mathematical Society) and CIMPA.
